I bought a motor boat last September. I threw the pump into the trash as soon as we got back to the marina. After the tube is about 70% filled.
Two week ago I bought a tow able water tube. Can you imagine how disappointed the kids were. At the end of last year, I started to get prepared for water tubing so I bought this air pump and a battery booster last year.
The pump stopped working normally and went in to episodes of s-l-o-w clanking noise that last about two seconds/episode with an interval of about one second between episodes. Two days ago on Sunday August 23, we went to Lake George, NY for the first time we plan to do water tubing. I plugged the pump into my 12-volt battery booster and started to inflate the tube on lake.
This was the first and the last time I used the pump. I would give it a zero star if this option is available.
I had the Metro Magic Air pump and it took forever to pump up my float. I just purchased the Kwik and it's very powerful for such a small pump and it works great on my boat. I did alot of research and think this is the most powerful air pump that still uses 12 volt.
Inflates our 70x70 tube in ~5 minutes. Just as MPV "Gone fishin" states. which is great as we can keep the tube deflated when not in use and not have it take up a lot of space in our boat. it is clearly written on the box as well as on the instructions to not use a cigarrette lighter plug. I've used this from my 12V plug in the boat as well as the 12V accessory plug in the trunk of my Suburban. Would've been nice if it also had the alligator clip option to hook directly up to a battery source. Otherwise, for 15 bucks at Walmart, it was an excellent buy for me.
the box states that the pump should not be plugged into a cigarette lighter socket and only a 12V power supply outlet which always allows for more amperage and is larger than most lighter sockets. The included directions state this a few more times so if there was a problem it was not with the pump but rather the user.I received the pump yesterday and tested it out and I am very impressed with its output and speed it took to fill and deflate our blow up rafts. The only thing that should be kept in mind is that it is designed for short (under 30minutes) uses as it gets warm quickly. You can learn this by reading the short and simple instructions.
however, I am unhappy that the manufacturer never says anywhere on his product that it pulls 10+ amps. Used this product and it immediately blew the 10amp fuze in my boat. I plugged in my 25 amp fuze and it worked great after I did this. Just make sure before you plug this product into your cig lighter that you have a 25 amp fuze installed in your cig lighter. I would recommend you don't buy this product though.
